Artist Statement

A brief description of my practice and experience, please visit my CV page for further information.

I'm Anna, a multi-disciplinary visual artist from Sunderland who is now residing in Stockport and Manchester. My art, which draws inspiration from my love of fantasy and early computer graphics, can be classified as cyber-surreal. I frequently combine 2D and 3D methods of creation and push myself to see how various mediums might collaborate. With an emphasis on artificial, frequently blinding colour and mythical animals, I want to create immersive and ethereal realms in my work.

I have a BA in Illustration and Animation from the Manchester School of Art. I work as a resident artist at Underbank Studios and am also a co-owner and technician of the Roots Riso risograph press that is housed there. I also have previous experience working as a technician at Manchester School of Art, where I helped students with a variety of printmaking, papermaking, and book/zine-making projects. In addition to this, I have coordinated and curated for events and exhibitions across Manchester and have a wealth of experience working on commission and in partnership with other creatives. My debut event, "Chromophilia," which I produced and curated in April 2023, drew more than 250 attendees.
